The human body is made up of cells.  A cell has no individuality of its own., i.e., it does not work alone, nor can it exist alone.  Many cells together form tissues, which are the basis for the different organ systems that the human body is made up of.  So, just as cells are a part of us, we are a part of the Divine.


Sai Baba of Shirdi is an embodiment of peace and harmony.  So the Divine nature is one equanimity, contentment and everlasting happiness.  It is we who isolate ourselves from the Divine and experience emotions like sorrow and hardships.  To avoid these, let us identify ourselves with the Divine and experience happiness.  This is possible if we tread on the path of spirituality and realize that a part of the Divine exists in us.  This thought should be fixed firmly in our mind and heart and we should have steadfast belief and unwavering faith in it.

As the villagers of Shirdi lacked medical facilities, Sai gave them medicines and treated them well, Sai provided them with drinking water. Sai  brought back the glory of the temples by getting them repaired.  Sai got them to dispose off the garbage and made a garden there.  Though  Sai lived in Masjid, Sai planted a Tulsi plant in the front yard, lit lamps like a Hindu, had a Fire burning constantly like an agnihothri, to welcome one and all - all people who embraced different religions.  He won a place in the hearts of all the people in Shirdi!

The advent of Shri Sai to Shirdi brought about a sea change in that village.  The seemingly unimportant village all of a sudden became the centre of attraction.  Whatever seemed necessary for the villagers was done by Sai - very silently, even before they asked for it. Though Sai was the supreme power in human form,  Sai did not exhibit His powers, but instead  Sai made the villagers realize thet duty comes first, service to humanity and that all are responsible for the society we live in.

 Sai  urged  the  artists to put in all the devotion and perform  wholeheartedly for only then will they do justice to Art and to the Divine Master.  In  life  we  are busy with providing ourselves with food, shelter and clothing.  We have to attain spiritual bliss too and this is provided by art. We look forward for this day and maybe Sai had this desire too!

In the afternoon  Sai  often listened  to their concerts.  Sai watched them dance in devotion,  apriciated their magical feats and listened to their bhajans.  He corrected them and suggested improvements whenever necessary  and gave them money and blissings.

Sai also encouraged art and talent.  our great country is home for fine arts - music, literature,dance, sculptures, painting magic, martial arts etc. around 64 of them.  In the days of yore all the people were well versed in the fine arts, mainly 16 items of them.  The benifits of developing these talents are many.  They instill discipline, perseverance,  confidence, the urge to become close to divine and they provide us with a vocation. The monarchs and kings understood this very well.  They encouraged and supported their subjects to learn them as it is also easy to govern people with ethical nature.  But with with the onset of forign rule, the whole system was destroyed.  
Baba changed that in that small village.  Whenever artists turned up at the doorstep, Sai welcomed and  blessed them.
