Sai did not heed what people talk about Him.  Some, Khandoba Mandir priest Mahalsapathi and few others, recognised  that He was a noble soul, but many, like one Balabhate, did not acknowledge His greatness.  Sai Baba is like Mother Earth.  You kik her with your legs : She,   i.e. Earth, will not mind.  She again gives you the place to stand on her.  Dig deeply paining Her with iron rods etc., She will give you water. Break her with sharp blades and sow seed : she will gives paddy. Do rubbish with natures calls on her :  she purifies and give us fertilisers. Do any harm to her, insult her, The Earth will be with great patience and  with great forgiveness.  Though we step on earth, dig it, pollute it, with all disrespect , yet our own crops get harvested, we build homes  on it.  The quality we can learn from it is patience and faith that at least some day mankind will learn and realise the true worth of earth.   Sai Baba did the same, He is behaving like MotherEarth.

Blessed are the people who could spend time with Sai in the initial days of  His return to Shirdi.  Mahalsapathi, his friend  Kasinath and Appajogle used to sit with Sai every eveyday.

People who saw Sai had difficulty in gauging Him.  He was an embodiment  of Divine Peace and    detachment.  He spent His time   in penance and meditation, immovable in His senses like a mountain.

TheBoy came back to the village after  a few years.  He was one amoung a number of people who represented a marriage party.  It stopped near Lord Khandoba's temple on the outskirts of Shirdi.  As Baba  got down from the cart, Mahalsapathi, the priest of Lord Khandoba's temple greeted Him warmly " welcome   SAI. "  Sai went back to the neem tree.  From then on the shady area underneath the neem tree was His Home.
